CSIR UGC NET December 2025 Notification Out – Eligibility, Exam Pattern

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the notification for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2025 examination. This national-level exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professorship in Indian universities and colleges.

Online Application Start Date: 25th September 2025
Last Date to Apply Online: 24th October 2025 (till 11:50 PM)
Last Date for Fee Payment: 25th October 2025
Correction Window: 27th – 29th October 2025
Examination Date: 18th December 2025 (Two Shifts – 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon & 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM)

General-EWS / OBC (NCL): ₹600
SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender: ₹325

Payment can be made through Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, or Net Banking.

CSIR UGC NET December 2025 :Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification
- Master’s degree or equivalent with 55% marks (General/EWS).
- 50% marks for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates.
- Final-year students can also apply provisionally.
- Candidates with a 4-year bachelor’s degree (75% marks) are eligible for JRF/Ph.D. admission.
Age Limit
- JRF: Maximum 30 years (as on December 2025).
  - Relaxation up to 5 years for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender/women candidates.
- Assistant Professor/Ph.D. Admission: No upper age limit.

CSIR UGC NET December 2025 : Exam Pattern

The exam will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode with objective-type questions (MCQs).

Duration: 3 Hours (180 minutes)
Medium: English & Hindi
Subjects Covered:
- Chemical Sciences (701)
- Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean & Planetary Sciences (702)
- Life Sciences (703)
- Mathematical Sciences (704)
- Physical Sciences (705)

Each subject paper will have three parts (A, B & C) with negative marking as per subject scheme.

Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): ₹37,000 per month (first 2 years), upgraded to ₹42,000 as SRF from 3rd year.
Assistant Professorship: Eligible for faculty positions in universities and colleges.
Ph.D. Admission: CSIR NET score is valid for direct Ph.D. admission in recognized institutes.
